This guitar was basically made in 2009 but the final assembling was made in
June 2011. The reason was too much work on other projects and I was close
to a burnout. It is a basic DC and I painted it in a classic color, Sonic Blue.
I made it for fun and I had no customer for it. When I make a DC-body for
any reason I always make a couple. It is good to have some bodies in a
different stage of complete, to finish whenever I feel for it.
For this guitar I find myself ordering a set of Lollar Blackface. They are a little over winded and have more bottom and midrange than standard. I connected them as my own standard with a lift pot at the tone control to connect the middle pickup in series with the neck or bridge pickup, depending on the position of the 5-way switch.
The neck is from an old piece of maple I have and the body is from a popple plank that has been in my workshop for years, very nice dried. The combination is so special. Popple is a water loving tree and when you cut it down it is so heavy. When dried, all the water leaves a lot of small holes that make the wood so light weight. These holes gives the sound a touch of semi acoustic. The Lollar pickups together with the popple body make this guitar sing increadible. The blues tone is absolute wonderful.
