This Ares NCB5 bass was basically made 2009. The project put on hold because of other projects more important. I finished it springtime 2011 and now it is ready. It is a sophisticated design and construction with a tremendous sustain and sound as a result. I usually make these basses with Mahogany and Maple top but this one has a Poppel body with an Alder top. Those woods make the bass more light weight.

For some reason I painted this bass glossy black. It is the absolute trickiest color you can put on an instrument like this. Every little scratch, fingerprint and speck of dust will shine very brihgtly. But who will notice when you are on stage?

The construction of these necks makes the low B string sound like a thunderstorm. The neck can take the power from the string and let it sing all the way down to the basement. To pick up the massive power from the bass I chose Delano soap bar pickups, SBC 5 HE/S, together with a small Delano Preamp, Sonar 2.

When you are on stage with this bass, you make the rules. No one will discuss your authority. You will give the band a powerful foundation that is crystal clear and distinct for the band members to express themselves. This bass is ready to rock'n roll.
