This little beauty was made between August 1997 and September 1998. The
body is made of Swedish cherry with a nice top of Swedish maple.
The reason why I put a top on is that I had a little accident on
the cherry wood. Instead of painting it with an opaque color I
experimented with a maple top. Even if I hate bindings, I put some
on this guitar.
The tap tone of the cherry body was strong and clear but it changed when I put the top on. I cannot say that it was bad or good, it just changed. The neck is from a maple plank that I cut down myself around 1985. I tried a couple of necks before I found the right one. You cannot just put a neck on; they must fit with the tap tone as well. This combination is important for the set of overtones. I finished the neck with a fretboard in ebony. A tobacco sunburst let the bindings shine a little extra.
The song of this guitar is more powerful in the midrange and the upper part than the lower bass part. The top end is crystal clear and the sustain is wonderful. To pick up the song of this guitar I tested some different pickups and finally I chose Tom Anderson.
This guitar is wonderful in “funky” riffs. It has a fast attack and the tone, the set of overtones, is just incredible. The guitar is sold and there will never be another one, that sounds the same.
